Anthology from Orchard Lea Books

Cancer is not a stranger to me. I’ve known it intimately since childhood. Almost every aspect of the cancer journey has been a part of my life from family to friend to caregiver to working with cancer patients to patient. My most recent experience with cancer turned into a not yet, but I know that doesn’t happen for so many others.

I’m proud to have a poem in a new anthology highlighting the many facets of cancer in our lives: Close Up: Poems on Cancer, Grief, Hope, and Healing, out now from Orchard Lea Books.

My poem “Life Line” explores my experience with chemotherapy treatment and the weight of illness on a body.

All proceeds from this anthology go to charities in aid of cancer research and support. Copies are available in paperback from Orchard Lea Books on Amazon.

Phyllis Hemann grew up reading and telling stories. As a child, she scribbled poems with crayons. Now she writes her own tales for children and adults.
